Rising Sun was born on the banks of the mighty Ohio River. Settlers came from both up and down river to visit our gorgeous riverfront. You can see why they could not pass us up! Rising Sun became a city in 1814 and the State of Indiana did not become a state until 1816. We have a tremendous amount of history in this small community. As you look over our website, you will see the wonders of the City of Rising Sun. We have several major events throughout the summer, so I urge you to visit all areas of this site and come back often as we update information and events.

As you are considering our area for business, a weekend visit, or just a one-day trip, I hope that our website can guide you through our community. This website provides easy access to city government and offers a wide variety of information on the community.

As Mayor, it is my goal to bring our community together, to help Rising Sun grow and become a better place to live, work, raise a family, and conduct business.
