The City of Rising Sun is offering a second chance for citizens to purchase bricks for the Bicentennial Walk.  You have the option to complete forms and pay in person or online.  RISING SUN, INDIANA—The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a contract award October 17, 2014 for replacement of the State Road 156 bridge over Grants Creek—1.4 miles west of S.R. 56 near the Ohio-Switzerland County line. The structure at North Landing closed yesterday after a hole opened in the bridge deck. Here’s the hole story: the State Road 156 Grants Creek Bridge at North Landing has been closed because of a hole. Indiana Department of Transportation Seymour District spokesperson Harry Maginity said Thursday afternoon that the bridge was closed shortly after 12:00 p.m. due to a hole developing in the bridge deck. The Rising Sun/Ohio County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a couple of upcoming fun events for children in our community and the Rising Sun/Ohio County Senior Center. After-School Arts & Crafts Classes (for ages 5-12)- These classes will be held from 3:15 to 4 pm on Wednesdays from October 22nd-November 5t.  The cost is $6 per class or $18 for all three.  Class size is limited and each child must be preregistered. Leaf collection within the City limits of Rising Sun begins Monday, Oct. 20th, 2014. The following rules apply:   Leaves must be raked and piled in rows along the street or curb for easy access. No garbage or large sticks are to be placed in the leaves. Piles are not to be raked along side of mailbox posts, signs or trees with low hanging branches that could interfere with the swing arm. Friday Night Navy Bean Pageants Moved To Heritage Hall
Due to weather, some of tonight’s festivities at Rising Sun’s Navy Bean Fall Festival have changed. The Senior King and Queen Pageant and the Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen Pageant are being moved inside of Heritage Hall on Main Street starting at 5:45 pm.   There are no other changes to tonight’s entertainment schedule or events.  For a complete list of events, activities and entertainment, go online to www.NavyBeanFestival.org.
