The City of Rising Sun congratulates Marcia Brett on her retirement and thanks her for 30 years of service with Rising Sun Municipal Utilities.  Please stop by the City Building this Friday, August 15th and join us in saying farewell to our friend and cowoker on her final day at RSMU.  Refreshments will be served. New at the Rising Sun Regatta this year - Antiques~Arts & Crafts~Flea Market area on North Front Street - 24 booths are scheduled. There is also over a block of food vendors on South Front Street. Between heats on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, stroll the riverfront and load up on "fair food" and deep fried delicacies, then visit the antique/craft area to see what they have to offer! They are in need of substitutes; pay rate for subs is: Aides : $56.10 per day Non-Certified Teacher : $67.32 per day Certified Teacher : $73.44 per day Cafeteria: $10.92 per hour Custodian : $12.71 per hour   If interested, please fill out an application at the Superintendent's Office at 110 Henrietta St, Rising Sun, IN.

Saturday, August 16th will be proclaimed "Whitlock Day" by Mayor April Hautman. In conjunction with the Rising Sun Regatta in Rising Sun's Bicentennial year, the Ohio County Historical Museum is hosting an open house to celebrate J.W. Whitlock. Beginning at noon, Board President Lane Siekman will welcome members of the Whitlock family and visitors to the reception.  Mayor April Hautman will read a proclamation declaring "Whitlock Day" and recognize Whitlock family members in attendance. ...

Sorry Charlie! Due to the impending WET weather, the Movie On Main will be postponed. Despicable Me 2 will be shown on Saturday evening at dusk (8:30-ish) in Heritage Hall on Main Street. Bring your chairs and snacks and settle inside for a fun family evening. Hope to see you there!

Back To School Means Shorter Pool Hours
 Back to school means fewer pool customers and fewer pool workers and so the CIty Pool is scaling back hours in August.  The pool will be open Monday - Thursday from 2-8 pm; Friday from 2-6 pm; Saturday from Noon - 6 pm and Sunday form Noon - 8 pm.

 Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks Board's 12th season of dance classes begin soon! Classes are held at the Rising Sun-Ohio County Senior Citizen Community Building under the direction of Mrs. Laura Baresel.  Classes are for ages 4-12 and registration must be received by August 9th. Planned Power Outage for Portion of City
There will be a planned power outage either August 5, 6 or 7 (date depends on weather) from 8 am until approximately 2 pm.  The outage will affect Detmer Lane, Fifth Street and Barnes Alley. Rising Sun Municipal Utilities will change out a utility pole on the corner of Fifth St. and Detmer Ln.  Every effort will be made to shorten the duration of the outage.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
