Trash Pickup Days Changing for Holidays
For the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day, Rumpke will pick up trash in Rising Sun on Thursday, December 27 and Thursday, January 3.  Rumpke will resume normal service Wednesday, January 9.

Once again in 2019, the Mayor’s Office, Clerk Treasurer’s Office and City Council are providing small, monetary sponsorships to local groups and organizations.  One difference in the process for this year, is applications will not be mailed or emailed to prior sponsorship recipients. Leaf collection ends Wednesday, December 5 because the truck used for the service will be converted to snow removal.  For those within the Rising Sun city limits, please use the following guidelines for leaf collection: -  Leaves must be raked and piled in rows along the street for easy access. -  Avoid placing leaves by mailboxes, signs or trees with low hanging branches because those will interfere with the swing arm. -  Don’t place garbage or large sticks in the leaves....

Rising Sun High School's band and choir will perform at the City of Rising Sun's tree lighting ceremony under the Main Street Pavilion on Friday, November 30 at approximately 5:10 pm. Every Saturday through December 22, the Rising Sun Lions Club will hold its annual Fruit Sale.  This year's sale location is at the former veterinarian building at 5th and High Street.  Proceeds benefit many wonderful causes the Lions Club supports.

The American Legion Riders, Post 59 of Rising Sun, is sponsoring a local Toys For Tots drive between now and December 19.  Please make a donation to help the children of needy familes this holiday season.  Drop off locations in Rising Sun include: The American Legion, Dollar Store, Family Dollar, Friendship State Bank, Rising Sun IGA  and Rockies Bar and Grill.
