Community Pool hours have been established for the 2016 season. The pool will open on Saturday, May 28.Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday- 12 to 6 pmWednesday and Sunday- 12 to 8 pmAdult Pool Exercises- Monday and Friday 11 am to 12 pmKiddie Pool and Splash Park AvailableSwim lessons are $30 per child for each session. May 7 Dance Recital Has Two Sold Out Shows
The 13th Annual Dance Recital under the direction of Laura Baresel and sponsored by the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks Department is sold out according to parks director Jamie Bell. There will be two shows Saturday, May 7 at 1 and 3 pm at Rising Sun High School. This year's program entitled "ROCK ON" will include music from Queen, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Pink Floyd and more. Ms. Lindsey Merica’s OCEMS 7th Grade Language Arts class took a field trip recently to the Rising Sun Wastewater Treatment Plant. While their recent studies have focused on tap water versus bottled water, Ms. Merica said it was a great opportunity for her students to see the water treatment process locally. Rising Sun's Wayne Ashcraft is bravely fighting stage 3 bladder cancer. Despite eight chemo treatments, the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes around the bladder and in the lungs. Unfortunately, Wayne is not a candidate for surgery. The Ashcraft Cancer Benefit will be held Saturday, April 2 from 3 pm to 1 am at Rockies Bar and Grill on Industrial Drive in Rising Sun. It is the milestone birthday of all birthdays. Rising Sun's Edythe Hassett is 100 years young! Ms. Hassett celebrated the century mark on Sunday, March 27. It addition to enjoying her very special day with family, friends and her neighbors at Rising Sun Senior Housing, this wonderful young-at-heart woman is now a national celebrity of sorts.
