It's baaaaaaak!  Elsen's Little Farm on the River RV Resort has brought back it's "13 Rooms of Doom."  It's a haunted house open to the general public...at least those who dare to enter! Now through November 1st, the spooky structure is open every Friday and Saturday nights from 7:30 to 10:30 pm.  The cost is only $8 per person.  Plus, you can enjoy funnel cakes, fried oreos and more. Join Rupert for the the Rupert’s Kids River Ride at the Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana. Registration is from 10-12, with the ride beginning at 12:15. Located in the Pendleton Art Center at 201 Main Street, the Jitterbug Coffee shop is Rising Sun's newest eatery and offers steaming homemade soups and grilled sandwiches in addition to delicious coffee creations. Open daily from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., and sometimes later on weekends. A mammoth steaming bowl of soup is $3., add a 1/2 grilled sandwich for $2. more. The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks and Recreation Department is once again sponsoring “31 Miles in October”, an exercise program with a definitive goal and a reward for those who complete it. The concept is simple.  Participants have 31 days from October 1-31, 2014 to walk or run 31 miles.  For those who complete the program, they will receive a free t-shirt. Come to downtown Rising Sun for the final Music On Main and Cruise-In event of the season this Friday, September 19th. The classic cars will roll in from 6 to 9 pm and the Scotty Anderson Band will perform from 7 to 9 pm. Hope to see you there!

Calling all young ladies of Ohio County! The Navy Bean Fall Festival is currently seeking candidates for the 2014 Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen Pageant to be held on Friday, October 10th. Individual contestant interviews, closed to the publc, will begin at 3:30pm at Heritage Hall. The crowning of the queen will be the opening event of the festival at 6 pm that evening. The Ohio River Valley Cats 9th Annual Team Catfish Tournament will be held in Rising Sun on Saturday, September 6th from 8 am to 4 pm and Sunday, September 7th from 7 am to 3 pm.  The staging will take place at the city’s new boat ramp off Plum and Front Streets. Guaranteed prize money includes $10,000 for first place, $2000 for second, $1400 for third and down to $100 for 25th place.  There is a big fish prize of $2000 too.
