Cool Computer Coding Camp for Kids
The Education Center of Rising Sun will be offering a Computer Programming STEM Camp for students in grades 2 through 5 on Thursday, December 29 from 9 am to 3 pm. Students will learn basic techniques of beginner coding to create games and graphics. The cost is $25 and includes lunch. Call 812-438-2437 by December 22 to register.

Santa sure knows how to get around Rising Sun!  After arriving by seaplane last week, he is making a return appearance this Wednesday, December 7.  This time, he’s bringing Mrs. Claus and rolling in on a fire truck! The Train Club will be hosting a Polar Party at Heritage Hall (214 Main Street) on Friday, December 9 from 7 to 9 pm.  They will show the movie The Polar Express and provide everyone with hot chocolate, marshmallows and cookies.   There is a $2 admission fee for children but each child's parents get in free.  Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas.  You should also bring a blanket, sleeping bag or bean bag chair to sit on.  Coloring pages will be provided ...

Veterans Outreach is sponsoring a free event for Veterans and their families on Saturday, December 10.  This is a trip to the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo.  The bus will leave the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post No. 239 at 4 pm and return between 9 and 9:30 pm There are only 54 openings available and sign up is first come, first serve. It's not exactly a sleigh but it's an impressive mode of transportation nonetheless.  Santa arrives BY SEAPLANE this Friday, December 2 on the Rising Sun Riverfront around 5 pm (weather permitting).  The jolly one will walk to the Main Street Pavilion and light the town Christmas tree.  From there, he'll make a stop at the Pendleton Art Center on Main and Poplar Streets for free photos courtesy of Rising Sun Main Street.  There will be fun activities for the little ones inclu...

A brand new business is opening in Rising Sun November 18, 19 and 20.  H & K Boutique LLC is owned by Rising Sun High School graduates and current residents Heather Cook and Kenna Williams.  They are located in the White Pine Construction's Model at 7118 SR 56 (just north of the Little Farm entrance). One Voice Walk for Those Struggling with Addiction is Nov. 5
Mayor Brent Bascom, police chief David Hewitt and Karrah White of Rising Sun Main Street have been diligently working together to host the One Voice Walk, a recovery walk designed to raise awareness and give hope to those still struggling with addiction.
