Mayor Bill Marksberry and Clerk Treasurer Rae Baker Gipson represented the City of Rising Sun at the Indiana Gaming Commission business meeting in Indianapolis March 17, 2011 to support the regulatory approval for the transfer of ownership of the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun from HGMI Management, Inc. (formerly Hyatt Gaming Management) to Full House Resorts, Inc.
Mayor Marksberry welcomes Full House to the community. Mayor Marksberry said, “Rising Sun will benefit from Full House Resorts’ impressive track record and committing to working closely with the City. Based on the meetings we have had with Full House, we look forward to developing a strong partnership with the Full House management team and continuing the success the Grand Victoria Casino has enjoyed since it began operations in 1996.”
He continued, “Clerk-Treasurer Rae Baker Gipson and the City staff have worked hard for the past 2 ½ years during which the casino was on the market to ensure a good working relationship with the new owners and I am very pleased with the outcome of our efforts. Rae’s historical knowledge of what has transpired since 1993 was critical in this process. Rae and I also worked closely with members of the City Council to make sure Rising Sun is poised to take advantage of any opportunities that may arise. 2011 will be an exciting year for our community.”
Full House Resorts was incorporated in 1987. In 2004 a new, and the current, management team was put in place and revitalized the company. The Board of Directors, which includes Lee Iacocca, adheres to a two-pronged business strategy: (1) owning local casinos with market leadership and strong management, and (2) managing casinos on behalf of Native American tribes and other commercial clients who want to benefit from the experience of the management team.
In addition to the newly acquired Grand Victoria, Full House Resorts owns Stockman’s Casino in Fallon, Nevada. Full House also manages Fire Keepers Casino on behalf of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians, in Battle Creek, Michigan and operates Harrington Raceway & Casino in Harrington, Delaware in a joint venture relationship.
Andre Hilliou, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Full House Resorts “With the recent approval by the Indiana Gaming Commission we are within weeks of closing on the Grand Victoria property in the city of Rising Sun. Mayor Marksberry and the City Council have welcomed us graciously into the community. We thank him and his team for their advice and assistance. We look forward to working with the Mayor and the City Council to establish Grand Victoria as a regional destination.”
