City Lowers Flags To Half Staff For Barbara Bush
The City Of Rising Sun has lowered its flags to half staff due to the passing of Barbara Bush, former First Lady of the United States.  She died Tuesday evening in her Houston, Texas home at the age of 92. Mrs. Bush was the wife of 41st President George H.W. Bush.  They were married for over 73 years marking the longest marriage of any U.S. presidential couple.  She was also the mother of 43rd president George W. Bush.

Local Veterans Committee Selling Bricks For New Memorial
The Ohio County Veterans Memorial Committee is selling personalized bricks for the new veterans memorial at Rising Sun's Riverfront Park.  Bricks are $40 each.  Currently, there has not been a purchase date deadline established. It will be a "living" memorial useful in identifying and honoring veterans who have served in our nation's armed forces.  Veteran bricks will be placed in front of the memorial stones.  Proof of service must accompany the order. UPDATED ROAD RESTRICTIONS AS OF APRIL 16: no street parking 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17 on the following streets: Mulberry from Williams to Rio Vista, South High from S.R. 56 to the dead end.  All work is weather permitting. The Rising Sun Community Pool has announced details regarding swim lessons for 2018. Sign up- at the pool Thursday, May 24 from 6 to 7:30 pm Cost-  $30 per child/per session Age limit- none but the child must be potty trained SESSION 1- to 11:45 a.m. on June 4-7 and June 11-14 SESSION 2- 6 to 6:45 p.m. on June 18-21 and June 25-28 SESSION 3- 6 to 6:45 p.m. on July 9-12 and July 16-29

RSHS Science Club To Clean Up Riverfront
