The Rising Sun Community Pool opened with a big splash on Memorial Day. Here is a great activity for parents with children ages 3-5. Join the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department for Tyke Hike. You and your little one can participate in one, two or all three hikes on June 19, 20 and 21.  The cost is only $4 per session ($12 for all three). Each hike will commence at the Shiner Community Park Shelter near the playground. Explore the wonders of nature and go through a short walk through the park. Children ages 6 to 10 years old can participate in the June Bug Camp sponsored by the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks and Recreation Department. This year's three-day camp will be held June 12-14 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each day at the shelter in Shiner Community Park.  The cost is only $4 per day (or $12 for all three days). Join your friends and neighbors Saturday, June 16 for the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission's Annual River Sweep.  The local portion of this cleanup will commence at 9 a.m. from the shelter near the old city boat ramp at Front and First Street.  Trash bags will be provided and all volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. ROAD RESTRICTIONS (updated May 13): no street parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15 on the following street: High Street. The Rising Sun/Ohio County Port Authority has opened up 2018 applications for mooring spaces at the Rising Sun Public Docks.  Applications are being accepted right now and must be received in the City of Rising Sun's Clerk-Treasurer Office (200 North Walnut St.) by 5 pm on Wednesday, May 23. Fees for 2018 are $15 per foot for boats up to 26 feet in length or $20 per foot for boats over 26 feet in length.
