Leaf Collection Begins October 19th
Leaf collection within the city limits of Rising Sun begins Monday, October 19, 2015. The following rules apply:   v Leaves must be raked and piled into rows along street or curb. v No garbage or large sticks are to be in the leaves. v Piles must not be beside mailbox posts, signs or trees with low hanging branches that interfere with the swing arm. v Leaves will be picked up on a street-to-street basis; homeowners do not need to call for leaf pick up. v Residents who bag yard clippin...

Saturday, September 19 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. is Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the Recycling Center, 1432 Barbour Way. Examples of HHW include household cleaners, insecticides, pesticides, automotive products, and oil-based paints and stains. If a product is labeled “Danger,” “Poison,” or “Warning,” there is a good chance that it is HHW and should be disposed of properly. Tina Bailey Grubbs Benefit is Saturday, October 17
A benefit for Tina Bailey Grubbs, a Rising Sun native, will be held Saturday, October 17 from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post No. 239. Tina suffered two strokes in August leaving her paralyzed on her left side and unable to work. Her husband, a veteran, is also disabled due to major heart surgery and my be facing more surgeries soon. The event will include a silent auction, split the pot, music, food and more. Thirty-One Miles in October Challenge - Free T-shirt For Completion
The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department announces the return of Thirty-One Miles In October, a challenge to get residents in the habit of walking for health. You must register with the Parks Department by October 1, 2015. You log your days and miles and return completed paperwork by November 6 to qualify for a free t-shirt.
