Healthy Soils for the Grazing Farmer
Purdue Extension-Ohio County in conjunction with the Switzerland County SWCD is sponsoring a workshop for farmers that will help them increase their pastures' health and productivity.  The presentation will be held Thursday, February 2 at 6 pm in the Bear Branch Fire Department. Christin Herbst, Carroll County/UK Extension Educator, will discuss soil testing.  Matt Jarvis, NRCS, willl review pasture renovation.  And Steven Sarson, Bekaert, will look at fencing.

The Rising Sun Wellness Spa opened on April 1, 2008.  Unfortunately, it is being sold by the spa's owner.  But do not fear.  As one door closes, another one opens. "Move It" Ohio County is a year-long program sponsored by the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department. It is a program which encourages exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. There are many ways in which you can participate and tracking is on the honor system. Your goal is to complete 365 miles during the calendar year of 2017.  Monthly mileage reports are due by the 10th day of the following month.  You must turn in at least eight of the 12 months mileage reports...

Increase your fitness, strength, flexibility and relaxation through yoga with the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department.  There are Tuesday evening classes from 7 to 7:45 pm. The City of Rising Sun extends its sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Rising Sun Regional Foundation and the Ohio County Community Foundation for grants awarded to the city in December 2016.
