Ohio County Rescue Service is offering CPR training free to Ohio County residents on Saturday, July 22 at 121 South High Street in Rising Sun.  The 90 minute classes taught by Matt Vaughn are at 8 am and 11:30 am. Whether you are learning CPR for the first time or want to refresh your skills, this is a great opportunity.  Completing the class which follows American Heart Association guidelines and earning a passing score on the exam will provide you with AHA CPR certification for two ...

OCCF and RSRF Grant Awards
The Ohio County Community Foundation awarded the City of Rising Sun $2265 toward the purchase of mulch for the Shiner Park playground and also to replace the firewall at City Hall.   The cost of the mulch plus delivery is $2150 and the firewall replacement and its initial configuration cost is $2530.  The combined cost of the two projects is $4680. The Rising Sun Police Department is accepting applications for the position of a police officer.  Application and job requirements may be picked up in person at the Rising Sun Police Department on 300 South Poplar Street. Applications must be returned to the RSPD by 5 pm on July 31, 2017. The Rising Sun Police Deparment is an equal opportunity employer.

Next Dumpster Day is July 1
For city residents only, the City of Rising Sun will make dumpsters available at the City Dump on the following remaining Saturdays in 2017 from 7 to 11 am: July 1, August 5, September 23, October 7 and November 4. The following items are not permitted at the dump: liquids, hazardous waste, wet or lead paint, closed drums, Freon containing refrigeration equipment, tires or mercury containing lamps.

Rising Sun's fabulous fireworks event is Monday, July 3 at Riverfront Park on Front Street.  Bring your family and friends, a comfy blanket or lawn chairs for a full evening of musical entertainment, food and explosive fun!  An event map is attached below. UTVs Permitted On City Streets With Amended Ordinance
In 2012, Rising Sun City Council passed an ordinance permitting the use of motorized carts (golf carts) on city streets.  That ordinance was recently amended to include the use of recreational off-highway vehicles also known as "UTVs" (as referenced going forward) and/or "side-by-sides".  UTVs may be operated on Rising Sun city streets providing the operator has a valid driver's licence, the UTV has been insured and it has been registered with the State of Indiana.  Unlike golf ...
