Leaf collection within the City limits of Rising Sun begins Monday, Oct. 20th, 2014. The following rules apply:   Leaves must be raked and piled in rows along the street or curb for easy access. No garbage or large sticks are to be placed in the leaves. Piles are not to be raked along side of mailbox posts, signs or trees with low hanging branches that could interfere with the swing arm. Friday Night Navy Bean Pageants Moved To Heritage Hall
Due to weather, some of tonight’s festivities at Rising Sun’s Navy Bean Fall Festival have changed. The Senior King and Queen Pageant and the Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen Pageant are being moved inside of Heritage Hall on Main Street starting at 5:45 pm.   There are no other changes to tonight’s entertainment schedule or events.  For a complete list of events, activities and entertainment, go online to www.NavyBeanFestival.org.

The Navy Bean Festival Committee will be selling a variety of items at the Festival Hospitality Center under the Main Street Pavilion.  Items include:  Bicentennial Plates ($20), 2014 Navy Bean T-Shirts, 25th Anniversary Soup Mugs ($4) and Bean Soup Bags ($2).  The Hospitality Center will be open from 5 to 8 pm Friday, October 10th and from noon to 8 pm on Saturday, October 11.  (Closing times may be extended.) The Navy Bean Fall Festival will be held in downtown Rising Sun and the beautiful Riverfront Park, Friday, October 10 from 5 to 10 pm and Saturday, October 11 from noon to 10 pm. Every festival needs royalty! This year, the Navy Bean Festival will crown a Bicentennial King and Queen and a Festival Queen as part of the City of Rising Sun Bicentennial celebration.
