Catfish Tourney is September 6th and 7th
The Ohio River Valley Cats 9th Annual Team Catfish Tournament will be held in Rising Sun on Saturday, September 6th from 8 am to 4 pm and Sunday, September 7th from 7 am to 3 pm.  The staging will take place at the city’s new boat ramp off Plum and Front Streets. Guaranteed prize money includes $10,000 for first place, $2000 for second, $1400 for third and down to $100 for 25th place.  There is a big fish prize of $2000 too. Rising Sun Fall Yard Sales are Thursday, Friday and Saturday - Sept. 4 - 6.  There will be an extra dumpster at the brush dump and extended hours as well - dumpsters will be open Saturday, Sept. 4 from 7 - 11 a.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 13 from 7 - 11 a.m.  Dumpsters may NOT be used for paint, sealed gas/propane tanks, appliances containing freon, clothing or raw garbage.

Fall Martial Arts Classes Begin September 3rd
Indiana Academy of Martial Arts Classes for ages 8 years - Adult begin on September 3rd and will be every Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the Schroeder Education/Recreation Building at the Ohio County Fairgrounds, 1419 Fairgrounds Rd, Rising Sun, IN. We've waited a year - time again for the annual Rising Sun-Ohio County Life Squad Chicken Barbeque Dinner! They will begin serving at 11:00 a.m. and a 1/2 barbecue chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, bread and drink will be $8.00. Desserts will be available for $1.00 and a 1/2 barbecue chicken only for $5.00.  Don't be late - you know they usually run out! Come and have a great lunch and support our local Life Squad.

Classes for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), formerly know as GED, are available FREE in RIsing Sun at the Education Center of Rising Sun. Day, evening and on-line instruction is available. There is a fee to take the official test after the classes, scholarships are available for those who qualify. The City of Rising Sun congratulates Marcia Brett on her retirement and thanks her for 30 years of service with Rising Sun Municipal Utilities.  Please stop by the City Building this Friday, August 15th and join us in saying farewell to our friend and cowoker on her final day at RSMU.  Refreshments will be served.
