For Rising Sun and Ohio County residents only, the City of Rising Sun will have dumpsters available at the City Brush Dump from 7 to 11 a.m. on the following Saturdays in 2018: March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 8, October 6 and November 3. This service is free but you are encouraged to go early.  Street department staff are on hand to help maximize space available. One Park Trail Reopened, Others Still Closed
(Updated Thursday, March 1)  The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks Department has reopened the lower trail at Shiner Park but lower trails at the Denver Siekman Park remain closed due to flooding.

The City of Rising Sun is taking applications for seasonal positions with the Street Department and Community Pool.  Interested parties should pick up an application from the Utility Office at City Hall (200 N. Walnut St.).  Applications must be returned by Thursday, March 15 to the Utility Office or to Amy Martin in the Mayor's Office. Come hungry and support a local fundraiser.  The Rising Sun Lions Club is hosting a pancake breakfast Saturday, March 3 from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at the Rising Sun-Ohio County Senior Citizen Community Building (510 S. Mulberry St.).  It's an all-you-can-eat affair of fluffy stacks of goodness along with biscuits and sausage gravy, sausage patties, milk and Sunny Delight orange drink. The cost is $8 for ages 11 and up, $5 for ages 4 to 10 and free for ages 3 and under.

The 16th Annual Rising Sun QuiltFest will be held April 6-8 at the Rising Sun History Museum (212 S. Walnut St.) according to this release provided by event hosts, the Ohio County Historical Society.  The Rising Sun quilt event originated inside long-time residents Betty Ann and Lloyd Pavy’s former furniture store. The City Of Rising Sun's Board Of Works recently approved dates for the 2018 Community Yard Sales.  The spring event will be May 3-5 while the fall edition will be September 20-22. Watch for details as each event draws closer on how you can adverise your yard sale for free through the city's website and in the local newspaper.

The City of Rising Sun restates its disassembly of the fountain is for the purpose to determine all issues which are preventing it from functioning properly and to evaluate the options available to repair it. We understand our community has an emotional connection to the fountain.
