In 2006, Rising Sun’s Ann and Rick Miller welcomed the arrival of their newborn daughter Alanna. However, shortly after giving birth, Ann was diagnosed with Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome or PRES.  This rare syndrome has left Ann confined to a traditional wheelchair ever since. City Dumpster Available August 6
There are four remaining dumpster days in 2016 at Rising Sun's city dump.  The next day is Saturday, August 6.  Future Saturday dates include September 10, October 8 and November 5.  Available hours are from 7 to 11 am each day.  This is for City of Rising Sun residents only. The following items are not permitted at the dump: liquids, hazardous waste, wet or lead paint, closed drums, Freon containing refrigeration equipment, tires or mercury containing lamps.

Ever thought about writing your own book?  How about the added benefit of publishing it for free?  If this sounds interesting to you, then attend the free book writing workshops at the Ohio County Public Libarary on August 13, 20 and 27.  The courses are from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm each Saturday. Pool Hours Changing August 1st
Weekday hours of operation at the Rising Sun Community Pool will change starting August 1.  Facility manager Kristina Barrott says Monday through Friday pool hours will be from 2 to 6 pm.  Weekend hours of 12 to 6 pm on Saturday and 12 to 8 pm on Sunday will remain unchanged.

OCCF and RSRF Award Grant to City of Rising Sun
The City of Rising Sun offers its sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Ohio County Community Foundation and the Rising Sun Regional Foundation for grants recently awarded toward the upcoming Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers District Meeting the city will host in October. The OCCF awarded $5000 and the RSRF awarded $3000.   With the past 20-plus ILMCT District Meetings held in Nashville and Columbus, Rising Sun has been given the rare opportunity to host the event....

City Fireworks Sat., July 9 and Band Car Show Sun., July 10
UPDATED STORY 10 AM Wednesday, July 6.   While rain forced the postponement of the city's fireworks event this past Sunday, it has also provided Rising Sun with a big double event weekend.  The fireworks have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 9.  This will be followed by the Shiner Pride Car Show on Sunday, July 10.  The weather and the river level appear to both be cooperating for this Saturday's fireworks event at Rising Sun's Riverfront Park on Front Street.  Brin...
