PUBLIC NOTICE- The Rising Sun Advisory Plan Commission will hold a public meeting for the adoption of the Rising Sun Comprehensive Plan on April 13, 2016 at 7 pm in the conference room of the City Administration Building, 200 N. Walnut Street, Rising Sun, IN 47040. The plan can be reviewed in the Clerk-Treasurer's Office of the City Administration Building or is available online at www.risingsuncompplan.com.

The Rising Sun Community Pool is accepting applications for lifeguards and concession workers through Friday, April 15. To apply, please come to City Hall between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday to complete and turn in an application.

Mayor Brent Bascom of Rising Sun has declared March as Red Cross Awareness Month. He presented a proclamation (attached below) to Dorma Melchers, a Dearborn/Ohio County Disaster Action Team member for the Red Cross (shown left). Residents who want to learn more about the city's comprehensive plan recommendations are cordially invited by Rising Sun Mayor Brent Bascom to attend a 7 pm public meeting on Wednesday, March 9 at Rising Sun City Hall. The City of Rising Sun's Street Department will be hiring summer help for 2016. The position is open to Rising Sun High School students or graduates, age 18 or older, who are currently or will be attending college or a trade school in the fall of 2016.This is a great opportunity to help save some money toward educational expenses. The Mount St. Joseph University men's basketball program in Cincinnati is hosting a Veterans' Appreciation Day on Saturday, February 20 when it hosts Earlham College for a game at 3 pm. The Lions are coached by Rising Sun High School graduate Toby Carrigan. The program is providing free admission to all veterans and will recognize them prior to tipoff. The City of Rising Sun would like to extend its sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Ohio County Community Foundation for its support to help fund the patching of Industrial Access Road. The patching of this road is only a temporary solution to a much bigger project which includes improving the road's draining and its resurfacing.  Other funding options are being pursued to complete this expensive infrastructure project.
