City of Rising Sun names Rimstidt as new Police Chief
Posted by Ynez Taylor on March 5, 2019
The City of Rising Sun has named Rodney Rimstidt as its new Chief of Police. Rimstidt replaces former chief David Hewitt who died as a result of a vehicle accident on February 13.
A member of the Rising Sun Police Department since June 3, 2000, Rimstidt’s employment in law enforcement began in 1992 with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department.
“Chief Rimstidt brings considerable experience and training as well as strong relationships with many law enforcement agencies throughout the Tri-State,” said Rising Sun Mayor Brent Bascom. “He will continue to help build a strong police department here as we prepare for the future of law enforcement in Rising Sun.”
One of Rimstidt’s top priorities will be to fill two vacant police officer positions. Applications can be picked up at the police department at 300 South Poplar Street in Rising Sun. Previous applicants are encouraged to re-apply. Applicants must be age 21 or older. The deadline to submit an application is March 29, 2019 at 4 p.m.
The City of Rising Sun and the Rising Sun Police Department are Equal Opportunity Employers.
