Residents who want to learn more about the city’s comprehensive plan recommendations are cordially invited by Rising Sun Mayor Brent Bascom to attend a 7 pm public meeting on Wednesday, March 9 at Rising Sun City Hall.

The presentation will be led by HWC Engineering of Indianapolis, the firm retained by the city to facilitate the planning process. City officials and steering committee members will be present to answer questions and receive additional input on the plan.

“This plan includes input from over 300 residents,” said mayor Bascom. “The plan uses that input to recommend specific actions needed to address issues residents identified. This final review is important to make sure we have captured the input correctly.”

Some key issues addressed in the plan include: planning for reduced reliance on the casino, addressing declining population and school enrollment, investments in the riverfront and local quality of life plus growing and retaining local jobs.

The cost of the plan was paid for with a grant from the Indiana Department of Community and Rural Affairs. More information on the comprehensive plan can be found at www.risingsuncompplan.com.
