As the Rising Sun Fireworks Event Coordinator, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who made our 2016 Fireworks Show one very spectacular and safe night:

The Rising Sun Mayor and Mayor’s Assistant, City Council and Clerk Treasurer’s Office (financial backing, payment coordination and port-a-pots); RS Street Department (plywood sheeting, barricades, trash and cleanup); RS Project Manager and City Utilities (electric); RS Police and Fire Departments, Ohio County EMS and Dearborn County Water Rescue (event safety); RS Police and Board of Works (traffic coordination); US Coast Guard and Indiana State Fire Marshall (permits); OC Port Authority (dock usage/restriction coordination); Dock Leasers and Seaplane Hangar (moving boats and aircraft); RS Main Street (band coordination, publicity and cleanup); RSOC Tourism and Local/Regional Media (publicity); RS Boy Scouts (cleanup); RSOC Park Board and RSOC School Corporation (backup location); RSHS Band (setup coordination); Deja Blue (live music), RS Lions Club (food and cold drinks); and the Sky Fire Group (fireworks production).

My apologies to anyone I may have inadvertently left out.  While we keep the event, by design, limited to fireworks, music and food, it is a major undertaking by so many people to make it all work.  Again, my thanks goes out to everyone involved.  

Finally, thanks to everyone who came down.  What a crowd!  We’ve received a ton of great comments.  We especially appreciate those individuals who sampled several local shows over two weekends and spoke so highly of ours…many calling it the best local show around.  (We think so too.)  The live music was great, the food was delicious and the weather could not have been better.

I hope we get to do it again in 2017.  Please enjoy the remainder of the summer and be safe!
