July 4th Fireworks Thank You
Posted by Ynez Taylor on July 6, 2015
On behalf of the City of Rising Sun, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to the following individuals and organizations plus their respective teams on helping to make the 2015 Rising Sun Fireworks a great success.
Fireworks Show, Permitting and Insurance: Deno Koumoutsos, Sue Koumoutsos, The Skyfire Group, Indiana State Fire Marshall’s office and Rising Sun Fire Chief Kevin Armstrong.
Financial and Administrative: Mayor April Hautman, Rising Sun City Council, Rising Sun Board of Works, Rae Baker Gipson, Tammy Johns, Deedee Brown and Amy Hoffman.
Site and Facilities Hosts: Jamie Bell and the Rising Sun/Ohio County Parks Board plus Rising Sun School Superintendent Branden Roeder and the Rising Sun School Board.
Safety and Security: Chief Kevin Armstrong and the Rising Sun Fire Department, Chief David Hewitt and the Rising Sun Police Department, President Anthony Courter and the Ohio County EMS plus Sheriff Glen Potts and the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department.
Prep and Set-Up: Mike Northcutt, Doug Baker, Paul Bovard and the entire Rising Sun Street Department.
Awesome Entertainment and Food: The Side Effects and the Rising Sun Lions Club.
Riverfront Location: Cincinnati and Louisville offices of the United States Coast Guard, Bill Black of Dearborn County Water Rescue and the Ohio County Port Authority for preparing to assist us at that location.
Media Announcements: Register Publications, Vevay Newspapers, Froggy Radio and Eagle Radio.
Without the collective efforts of these individuals and organizations, Saturday’s July 4th Fireworks would not have been possible. It’s not easy to move an event like this six days before it’s scheduled to happen. The high level of cooperation, understanding, flexibility and support by all was truly commendable.
I would also like to thank our local residents and out of town guests who attended. We know many were disappointed the show was not on the river (due to high water covering the launch site) but, by many accounts, spectators really enjoyed the show. Hopefully, the weather and the river will cooperate next year and we will host the show from our beautiful riverfront in 2016.
