Navy Bean Festival Has Two Pageants This Year

Every festival needs royalty! This year, the Navy Bean Festival will crown a Bicentennial King and Queen and a Festival Queen as part of the City of Rising Sun Bicentennial celebration. The pageants will take place on Friday, October 10th on the Festival Main Stage.
The Bicentennial King and Queen pageant will begin at 5:45 pm. It is sponsored by the Navy Bean Festival and Rising Sun Ohio County Senior Housing, Inc. Three couples will be considered for the royal title including Bob and Grace Browning, Ross and Barbara Smith and Tom and Patsy Smith. All couples are residents of Rising Sun Ohio County Senior Housing. The winning couple will receive a crown, sash, flowers and $100. Second place will receive flowers and $50 while the third place couple will receive flowers and $25.
The Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen pageant will start at 6 pm. Four Ohio County girls are vying for the title of Miss Navy Bean Festival. The winner will receive a $500 from the City of Rising Sun Clerk Treasurer’s Office and a $250 scholarship from Dearborn County Hospital. The DCH scholarship will be presented by Phumeza Msikinya, M.D. and Chris Walcott, M.D. of the Rising Sun Medical Center. The second place winner will receive a $300 while third place will take home $150. Both cash awards are sponsored by the City of Rising Sun Clerk Treasurer’s Office.
This year’s festival queen contestants are Riley Bovard, MacKinzie Scott, Anna Slack and Erin Webb.
Riley Bovard is the daughter of Trevor and Mickey Bovard. Riley is a junior at Rising Sun High School. She is a cheerleader and enjoys hanging out with friends and family. She is a member of SADD Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, National Honor Society and the Rising Sun American Legion Junior Auxiliary. Riley is sponsored by Donita Valentine Realty in Rising Sun.
MacKinzie Scott is the daughter of Andy and Theresa Scott. MacKinzie is a junior at Rising Sun High School. She is a cheerleader and enjoys running, listening to music and hanging out with friends. She is a member of 4-H, Junior Leaders, SADD Club, Spanish Club, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council and the Prom Committee. MacKinzie is sponsored by Theresa Scott Photography in Rising Sun.
Anna Slack is the daughter of Steve and Heather Slack. She is a junior at Rising Sun High School. Anna is a cheerleader and enjoys horseback riding and being with her friends. She is a member of SADD Club, Spanish Club, 4H, Ohio County Classy Clovers 4H Club, Ohio County Junior Leaders, National Honor Society, Student Council, and is a Peer Tutor. Anna is sponsored by Hairitage Salon in Rising Sun.
Erin Webb is the daughter of Bruce and Lana Webb. Erin is a senior at Rising Sun High School. She plays soccer and enjoys spending time with her family, friends and boyfriend. Erin enjoys volunteer work. She volunteers for the Rising Sun Lion’s Club by helping with their annual softball and baseball tournaments. She also volunteers for the Rising Sun American Legion by helping set up for the community Memorial Day services. Erin is sponsored by B&A Tire & Auto in Lawrenceburg.
