Navy Bean Queen Pageant Deadline is Fri., Sept. 19th

Calling all young ladies of Ohio County! The Navy Bean Fall Festival is currently seeking candidates for the 2014 Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen Pageant to be held on Friday, October 10th. Individual contestant interviews, closed to the publc, will begin at 3:30pm at Heritage Hall. The crowning of the queen will be the opening event of the festival at 6 pm that evening.
The application deadline is Friday, September 19th.
The Pageant Committee strives to make the pageant a premier event for young women in our community. This pageant is not intended to be a beauty contest but a festival event for local girls to have fun, make new friends and walk away with a sense of pride for participating.
Participants shall not be less than sixteen (16) nor more than twenty-one (21) years on August 31, 2014. Contestants must currently reside in Ohio County and present proof of residency. All participants must attend an orientation meeting with the pageant coordinators on Thursday, October 9th at 7 pm. All participants and the crowned queen must participate in the Navy Bean Fall Festival Parade on Saturday, October 11th. The parade begins at 10:30 am.
The Navy Bean Fall Festival Queen will act as the festival hostess both days. The Pageant Coordinators and the Festival Committee Chair will bestow the hostess duties, which may include the introduction of festival entertainers, assisting with festival events and serving bean soup.
Candidates must seek a sponsor to pay the $25 entry fee to cover pageant expenses. The sponsor will be recognized throughout the pageant. Local businesses and organizations are invited to recruit and sponsor an eligible candidate meeting the pageant criteria.
The chosen 2014 Miss Navy Bean Festival Queen will receive a $500. The second place winner will receive $300, and the third place winner will receive $150.
The application, pageant guidelines and sponsor form can be downloaded at navybeanfestival.org or obtained in the office of the Historic Main Street Program at 103 S. Walnut Street, Rising Sun.
Candidates must mail their application, copy of their birth certificate or driver’s license, sponsor form and entry fee to: Navy Bean Fall Festival, P.O. Box 198, Rising Sun, In 47040 or submit them to the Historic Main Street office. All mailed applications must be postmarked by the application deadline. Late entries will not be considered.
