Rising Star Casino Resort is collaborating with the Education Center of Rising Sun to shine some light on career opportunities, education resources and open jobs in the community for the citizens of Ohio County. This public event will be held Wednesday, June 15 from 4 to 7 pm at Rising Star Casino Resort.

The fair’s focus is growth opportunities. Several area companies have been invited along with many who offer public services. This event is to encourage local residents to take advantage of resources and career opportunities in Ohio County. The atmosphere will be light and fun with games and refreshments served to facilitate relaxed, open conversations between employers, local officials and prospective employees.

“As a major employer in Ohio County, we realize many county residents no longer see us as an opportunity to build their career but as entry level positions that are a placeholder until they find something outside of the community,” says Kayla Self, HR Generalist for Rising Star Casino. “That simply isn’t all we have to offer. Most of our supervisory and management positions are actually internal promotions. A very high percentage of our management team has been with the company for many years and started as entry level team members.”

Deborah Thomason, director of the Education Center of Rising Sun, adds, “Our goal is to help all citizens to increase their learning or job skills up one level. Working with hundreds of people each year, we see so many people who do not realize what Ohio County has to offer. It is our goal through this resource/job fair to allow all businesses and agencies to show what they have to offer in product or services. It also will allow businesses to talk with citizens and create a dialog for future career possibilities.”
