River Cleanup in Rising Sun August 16-20

Be part of keeping our river and riverfront clean and beautiful.  From August 16 through August 20, Living Lands & Waters (a non-profit organization) is managing the cleanup in our area.  There are two cleanups daily from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 to 4 pm.  Lunch is provided for all volunteers between 12 and 1 pm.

Go to this link to register for the cleanup http://bit.ly/OhioRiverCleanups.  Please fill out the form twice if you would like to help out in both sessions.

You can learn more about what to expect by clicking on the attachment below.  This effort is known as the only “industrial strength” river cleanup operation of its kind in the entire world.  The organization will provide trash bags, gloves, life jackets, water, sunscreen and bug spray.

Since LL&W’s inception in 1998, it has worked with over 97,000 volunteers to remove 8.7 MILLION pounds of marine debris from America’s rivers. The work of LL&W has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, NBC Nightly News, CNN (multiple times), The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Outside Magazine, Reader’s Digest and many more. In 2013, the organization’s president and founder, Chad Pregracke, was even named CNN’s Hero of the Year.
