Street Closings Before and During Navy Bean Festival

There are street closings citizens of Rising Sun and welcomed visitors should be aware of leading up to and during the Rising Sun Navy Bean Fall Festival on Friday, October 10th and Saturday, October 11, 2014. All street closings have been approved by the City of Rising Sun and the Rising Sun Police Department.
Closings due to Rides and Midway:
Beginning Monday, October 6, the Main Festival Stage will be set up in the 200 block of South Front Street. This street will be closed through Monday, October 13.
The Bean Tents will be set up on Tuesday, October 7 in the 100 block of South Front Street. The tents will be set up on the riverbank but the street could be blocked during set up and tear down of the tents.
On Wednesday, October 8, the festival rides will be set up beginning at 9 am. The following streets will be closed: Main Street from the alley at DeVille Pharmacy and Heritage Hall to Front Street, the 100 block of North Poplar (before Humphrey Taylor Detmer Funeral Home) and the 100 block of South Poplar. All cars need to be moved from these areas before 9 am on Wednesday, October 8 or will be subject to tow at the owner’s expense. Signs will be posted in this area. The closed streets will reopen to traffic the morning of Sunday, October 12.
Closings due to Parade Route:
The Rising Sun Navy Bean Fall Festival Parade will take place on Saturday, October 11 at 10:30 am. The following streets on the parade route will be closed just before and during the parade: starting on Henrietta, turn right on Main and proceed to South Walnut. Turn right on South Walnut, turn left on Second, turn right on South Poplar, turn right on First and go back to the high school.
Horses and horse drawn wagons will be coming from the Fairgrounds, down Mulberry turning right on Henrietta and then left on Main. They will return by turning on First, right on Mulberry, proceeding to Fourth and turning left to return to Fairgrounds.
The Parade Stage will be in front of the Rising Sun Main Street Office at the corner of Main & Walnut Streets.
If motorists must pass through Rising Sun during the parade, a detour around the parade route has been set up:
Coming from Vevay on Highway 56 West/South Walnut, turn left on Plum and proceed to South Mulberry. Cross South Mulberry to Shiner Blvd. and go past the city pool and city park. Turn right onto Myles Lane. Myles turns into Downey Street behind the high school. Cross Main Street/Hwy 262 onto Elm. Turn right on Fourth then turn left on North High/Hwy 56 East to proceed out of town toward Aurora.
Coming from Aurora on Highway 56 East, turn right on Fourth. Turn left on Elm. Cross Main Street/Hwy 262 onto Downey Street. Downey turns into Myles Lane past the school. Turn left on Shiner Blvd. and go past the city park and city pool). Cross South Mulberry onto Plum. Turn right on South Walnut/Hwy 56 West to proceed out of town toward Vevay.
The parade will be stopped by order of the Rising Sun Police Department for any Emergency Vehicles needing to pass through town during the parade. Semi-trucks will not be permitted to use the detour.
